UIPI Renovation Tour arrives in Athens

The UIPI Renovation Tour took place in Athens on the 11 March 2022. This series of events aims to bring EU climate goals and policies – more specifically the Renovation Wave and its practical implications – closer to European property owners and managers, promote and steer the political and public debates at local and national levels, give the opportunity for affected parties to provide feedback and propose existing solutions to help all those who wish to engage in the needed efforts to renovate the European building stock and contribute for a greener and more sustainable future.

The event counted with the participation of EU institutions and local governments representatives, as well as key stakeholders in the building and energy efficiency markets.

The main takeaways from this event were that funding for property owners is essential to carry out renovations and that there is a need to ensure access to energy renovations for everyone. Additionally, it was made clear that sustainable architecture and techniques, such as energy-efficient construction and circular renovation methods and products, are key. Assistance for renovation is needed at many levels, such as financial and technical solutions. And of course, tackling energy poverty in the private rented sector is a priority.
