Refocus: Bringing Vacant Properties Back to the Market through One-Stop Shops

The workshop is organised in the framework of the REFOCUS project and will take place on 13 October 2026 in Brussels. It will bring together selected stakeholders from across the real estate sector, housing bodies, renovation practitioners and One-Stop Shop (OSS) operators to explore practical solutions for bringing vacant properties back into use.

The event will focus on two closely connected challenges. The first session will examine the structural drivers of housing vacancy across Europe, looking at different types of vacant properties and discussing mechanisms that can support their return to the market, including Social Rental Agency models and appropriate tenancy frameworks.

The second session will turn to One-Stop Shops for residential renovation, drawing on practical experiences from INSPIRE-US, RENPOWER and CondoReno. Speakers and participants will discuss how integrated renovation services can help overcome technical, financial and organisational barriers, engage private owners and make renovation projects easier to implement.

Through short presentations and two interactive roundtable discussions, the workshop will bring together different perspectives to identify practical, market-oriented approaches for mobilising vacant housing stock and supporting owners throughout the renovation process.

Participation is by invitation only. If you are interested in taking part, please contact: sanchez@uipi.com
